Cinco de Mayo 2018 Afternotes

I would like to thank all of the chess sponsors, coaches, parents and the students that participated at the Cinco de Mayo 2018 tournament.

This tournament was advertised at $10.00  but because I had a large amount of unused trophies from past events I repurposed them and not having the major overhead of their cost, we
consequently charged $5.00 for this tournament.

Next, the tournament held this past January, the MLK chess event, was marred by a very large amount of late entries that needed to be entered and this took an extended amount of time which made for a very long tournament.

This in essence penalized the coaches and players who did pre-registered and really made for a very uncomfortable event.

Mr. Chase vowed never to have that situation occur again

Pre-registrations from now on will have a deadline and no late registrations will be taken after that time.

I believe all tournaments will be conducted in this manner not just our particular events.

Because of this our Cinco de Mayo tournament began and ended in a very timely manner.

Again Thank You,
Felix Fierros
